Injuries resulting from the lifting of heavy materials and goods are a serious concern for steel manufacturing and fabrication businesses in Australia. We have discovered on our recent SER® visits that providing safe solutions to material handling issues is critical for productivity and a safe work environment.
The full or partial use of automation in steel manufacturing and fabrication to minimise manual labour when materials are heavier than human capacity is an endorsed method of materials handling. Not only will the risk of employee injury be avoided, but meeting safety requirements, increasing production and lowering costs are also met.
We encourage our customers to visit our distribution and manufacturing facilities to share information and learn from each other in this space.
We have found, our customers pursue the SER® as a vehicle to look at their business in a different way to make some small changes to reap big rewards. The Steel Efficiency Review® aims to provide recommendations to support our customer’s business and at the same time improve our product and service offer.
